Design Development Inc. was started in 1993 with the notion that we could offer value to our clients by providing quality professional services at a reasonable price and continue to do so today. To offer that value we focus on small projects, and tailor our services to provide the most benefit for the money spent. This allows us to keep our firm small and provide personal service to our clients.
Our design philosophy is that the best design is the one that offers solutions to the issues that are unique to each project. Design is not an architectural style imposed on a project. Design is not arbitrary. Each and every decision made during the design process should be solving a problem. Any project, whether a small addition to a home, reuse of an existing building, or the construction of a new commercial building, can benefit from professional guidance in making and evaluating these decisions.
The majority of our clients come to us because they cannot find a ready made plan that meets their needs. They may have a unique site that they want to take advantage of, or a special need such as accessibility. Some have come to the decision that this will be their last home and they want the design to not only meet their needs now, but in twenty years. We are a big believer in The Not So Big House concept by Sarah Susanka, which can be simply stated as designing a home for the way we really live.
