Festivals DC was organized in 2004 to create, develop, implement and support cultural and educational programs in Washington, DC, presenting concerts, festivals, symposia, workshops, master classes, lecture/demonstrations, and other programs related to Jazz, Blues, Latin and World music.
September 28 – October 2, 2005. The 5-day Festival is an event culminating with performances on The National Mall. Programs are designed to reach out to the broadest possible demographic in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, including senior citizens, schools, universities, libraries, and the Latino and African American communities.
President and Executive Producer of Festivals DC is Charles Fishman, president of Charismic Productions, a Washington, DC-based company established in 1986. Recognized internationally among the foremost producers of jazz concerts, festivals, and tours; Mr. Fishman was the personal manager and producer of the late jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie until his death. He is also a Grammy Award winner who has produced 9 audio recordings, and 5 television programs that have been aired on PBS, ABC, the BBC, Bravo, and international networks.
