About the DGA

Founded in 1983, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) serves as the united voice for the leading Democratic officials in America’s state governments, and supports the candidacies of Democratic gubernatorial nominees and incumbents across the nation.

The DGA plays an integral role in ensuring the success not only of Democratic campaigns, but also of the overall Democratic message. We provide political and strategic assistance to gubernatorial campaigns—and we play an integral role in developing positions on key state and federal issues that affect the states, through our governors’ policy forums.

An independent, voluntary political organization, the DGA comprises all governors—in states and in United States territories—who belong to the Democratic Party.
