In the year 1948, Dick Stack was a salesperson working for a small store in Binghamton, New York. When his business plan to extend the store activity to selling fishing gear was mocked by his employer, Dick Stack decided to start a business of his own. Convinced that his idea was going to work, he used his small family savings to open up his own fishing gear and bait shop in Binghamton. Ten years later, his satisfied customers persuaded Dick that he should expand his product line.
