Digicamhelp started as a small subweb of another site, which originally contained about 14 pages. The original purpose was so its creator, Gail Bjork, a former educator, had a place to refer friends who frequently asked her about buying and using digital cameras. Gail initially referred them to digital camera websites, only to have friends return in frustration, saying that much of the available online information was too technical, too long-winded and too difficult to understand. They wanted something simple so they could learn quickly about digital cameras, photography and basic image editing techniques.
A friend encouraged Gail to expand her subweb. It was revamped and officially launched in the late fall of 2003, as D igicamhelp . Digicamhelp now consists of hundreds of pages of information about digital cameras and photography. Many hours are spent researching and distilling complex digital photography-related topics into a few paragraphs, so they can be more easily understood by new and intermediate digital camera users.
