A key event in the life of the SPES / WSPES project took place this month (January) in Prato, Italy. The key players in the next round of the project got together to thrash out objectives, funding and other related issues. Diginus, as a key supplier to the UK partners, Sheffield City Council, and Sunderland City Council, took a leading role.
Diginus has a solid track record in delivery of key components for SPES / WSPES. In the first round of activity Diginus facilitated interoperability between the core SPES tool and PKI components. The next round will see interoperability extended into further backend components and business systems, once again with Diginus taking a leading role.
The full name of the project is, Setting Processes for Electronic Signature in European Cities or SPES for short. The W in WSPES indicates the ambition to widen deployment throughout Europe. Central to the project is the aspiration to make digital signatures interoperable across Europe and beyond, and by so doing to facilitate wider and deeper eGovernment for the benefit of Europe’s citizens.
