NFL: Davis fought off injuries to play eight games in his rookie campaign, contributing on both defense and special teams in 2003. He adds depth to the linebacking corps and packs a punch on coverage units. Detroit selected the speedy Davis with its second fifth-round pick (144th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft. James still gets butterflies in his stomach before games, but he says, “when the first hit comes, it goes away and I'm ready to play.” Once his football career is over, he would like to get his masters degree in special education.
