Disabled Online -- Provides topics and resources that benefit the disabled community

Description

About Us

Jay Cohen is the owner and operator of Disabled Online, founded in 2004. At 9 months of age, Jay was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). Jay was fortunate enough to be able to go to a regular school and be mainstreamed into the normal student population with the help of an assistant. After graduating from high school, Jay took media based and online courses through a local university. During this time, he became a board member of a not-for-profit organization known as the Association of Horizon, which provides educational and recreational resources for adults with disabilities.

Upon completion of his college courses, Jay received a Certificate in Internet Communications. He has since stepped down from his board duties, in order to focus on developing a web site that could offer a variety of resources for the disabled community.

In Spring of 2004, this idea became a reality, with the launching of Disabled Online. Disabled Online, is a place for people to interact, learn, and grow using the resources provided by the website. You don't have to be disabled to be a part of Disabled Online. This site is here for you, your family, and friends to interact and gain whatever information necessary to better one's life.
