Dockerland.com started in 1995 as "Shane's Dockers Page" it was a simple scoreboard and a few pictures. From there it grew to include games and interactive pages like Freo Karaoke. In 1999 it made the Semi Finals of the Financial Review-Telstra Australian Internet Awards. In 2001 Rivals Europe approached the site to join their network of over 500 sporting sites around the world. "Shane's Dockers Page" became Dockerland.com with daily news updates, an interactive message board and many more features.
The site grew both in popularity and professionalism quickly. Within 4 months of joining the network, Dockerland.com was selected as the Rivals Site of The Month.
In late 2001, Rivals of Europe merged with another sport porthole website and trimmed their operation. The Australian and French sites were first to go as they focussed more on Soccer with the World Cup approaching. Despite the rapid growth and unexpected success of the AFL Rivals sites, they were shut down and Dockerland.com became completely independent.
