Description
The seeds were sown during 2001, when two well-established U.K. based web design agencies were asked by separate clients to watch for the availability of several domains that were nearing their expiry dates.
For many months, these domains were watched on a daily basis by each party. Research was also undertaken to try and identify existing software to carry out this function but without any success.
In the last quarter of 2001, the two agencies, who regularly collaborated on projects, decided to pool their resources and develop bespoke software to track domains of interest. Integral to the design was that the system would automatically flag when domains had been released, enabling immediate re-registration.
