Amateur cook and part-time Internet junkie, Aunt Clara is not really anyone's aunt, but she needed a catchy name for a website about cooking. She is Dominican and lives in Santo Domingo, where she spends her days between the bread-winning job and fighting with The Traffic®. After being asked one-too-many times about Dominican recipes, and not finding a decent website about the subject, Aunt Clara decided to create her own, and there was no way her friends could talk her out of it. Aunt Jane, Aunt Ilana and Aunt Clara met on the message board of DR1, a delightful but often odd Internet community that you are invited to join.
With the obligatory exception of friends and family, one might say the two things Aunt Jane holds dearest to her heart are food and words. Therefore when Aunt Clara asked to her to participate in the construction of this website, she was giddy with glee. Aunt Jane resided in the Dominican Republic for 7 years, during which time she learned to differentiate between locrio and asopao. Now ensconced in the icy climes of Canada, she has learned that a well-seasoned Dominican dish does wonders to keep the flames of her love for the country alive. Oh yeah and her husband likes it too…
