The idea was first conceived in 2003 over coffee at the kitchen table where Felicity and Georgina Bailey were bemoaning the fact that all the lovely things featured in glossy home and garden magazines were only available from the sort of shops one finds in Kingston, Bath or Cheltenham - not much use if you live in the depths of rural West Dorset and have several small children in tow! Not only that, if items were available by mail order then the post and packing almost doubled the cost. Surely one can live and garden in the most beautiful part of the Country and have stylish string without paying through the nose? We thought so and after a lot more coffee The Dorset Garden Party was born - but only to Felicity as George had her own third beautiful baby boy instead!
We offer a small (but ever expanding) range of high quality garden tools, accessories and gifts. Our aim is to source good quality products that are practical, useful, make brilliant presents for your friends and that look really stylish in the garden or in the shed! We also aim to keep costs reasonable especially those postage charges.
In 2005 The Dorset Garden Party was present at 28 different events in Dorset from Easter to Christmas and we hope to be at lots more this year. Please see our calendar for details. Whenever possible we aim to attend events where our pitch fees will go towards local or national projects or charities. The website is new this year and we have just moved into new premises with our stock. The workshop is not staffed all the time but visits by appointment are welcome.
