Description
Established in 1974, Eric Dow Boat Shop specializes in traditional small craft of highest quality construction and has built nearly 200 boats from 8' to 33'. We accept commissions for new construction and offer repair and restoration of traditional wooden boats.
Based on a Deer Isle peapod of the early 1900's when these small craft were still used as inshore fishing boats, we have built about twenty of this model in plank-on frame wood (and are still equipped to do so). We began offering them in fiberglass in 1981, and a limited number have been produced yearly since that time.
The design features a fairly firm bilge for stability, yet it's slightly narrower beam and long "waterline length-to-overall length" ratio make it extremely fast and easy to row.
