- After retiring from the US Navy in 1984, where I had spent most of my 20 years as a jet engine mechanic, I decided I wanted to start my own business. After doing some extensive research I decided on "Saw and Tool Sharpening." After graduating from the Foley-Belsaw Institute in Kansas City, Missouri in 1990, I bought my first sharpening tool and was on my way.
