He decided to work part time in 1995 to concentrate on his writing career, and within 2 years was the medical columnist of the Sunday Times. He has written regular columns for many newspapers and magazines including FHM, Sainsbury's and Slimming magazine and is currently the medical columnist for the Sunday Mirror, Woman’s Own, Slimming magazine, Yours magazine and a number of other publications.
His medical responsibilities includes being a college doctor and a busy family doctor in Shropshire, running a main surgery and two branch surgeries.
