- Dr. Leggett was born in Houston, Texas and graduated from Strake Jesuit High School in 1971. He then attended The University of Texas at Austin and obtained a B.A. degree and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa upon graduation. Dr. Leggett then went to medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas graduated in 1980 and married his wife, Janet. He went to New Orleans, Louisiana and completed a five year residency in General Surgery at Alton Ochsner Foundation and completed his training as Chief Surgical Resident in 1985. Dr. Leggett and his wife had three children while in New Orleans, Philip II, Lauren and Lindsey.
