About Me
My name is Hillary. When I began this website back in 1999 I was known to all my internet friends as Carrie (taken from Stephen King's first book). Since then a lot has happened. Now the only chatting I do is with my interns at TeleHealthNet and SelfhelpMagazine. These sister sites are run by a fantastic group of volunteers, and I'm lucky enough to be Web Master at both. If you're interested in making a career of web development and are unsure how to get a foot in the door I highly reccomend this route to some solid hands on experience. It certainly paid off for me when I landed a paying position as web developer/accessibility specialist at SAMSA, a hosting company located here in Michigan.
The internet isn't all I'm interested in though. I am 37 years old, a mother of three wonderful kids and am married to my best friend. I enjoy my time spent as a Girl Scout Leader, too. I have a troop of 14 fifth grade girls (including my own little angel) who keep me on my toes. My older son (13) attends confirmation classes, and my daughter takes ice skating lessons every Saturday. My youngest son (8) is a Boy Scout, so things don't look to be slowing down any time soon! He and his sister also play Little League every spring. You can see all my kids pictures here.
Living in Michigan, for someone who hates the cold, can be tough. That's one reason I'm grateful for books. I enjoy most fiction, but have a special love for horror and fantasy. Just lately I've become enamoured of Lilian Jackson Braun's Cat Who books. *shrug* Everyone needs a breath of fresh air between gasps of fetid cemetary stench.
