Dredging Specialists was founded in 1974 by Don Searles the present owner. Through his daily hands-on involvement, Mr. Searles has been able to identify and solve many difficult dredging problems. He is the inventor of the Piranha Diver Cutterhead, The Bird Nest Eliminator and a revolutionary Drag Scraper Dredging System.

Berle Hartman - Chief Engineer since 1978. He has designed seven uniquely different hydraulic dredges including the dredge pumps, cutterheads, hulls and ladders. He did the engineering work on the Piranha Diver Cutterhead and the Drag Sraper Dredging System. Prior employment includes Caterpillar, Blaw Knox [Worlds largest manufacturer of asphalt pavers], Oliver Corp. and Taylor Pipe and Forge. While at Taylor Pipe and Forge, he designed the equipment and supervised the making of the first ever titanium pipe fittings, which were used on the worlds first nuclear powered submarine.
