DropShark is the result of over a year of research into the dropping domain market. Every day, roughly 20,000 domains are made available again due to their deletion for non-payment. Many of those names are valuable, both in terms of their name as well as the existing traffic and search-engine positions that they enjoy. Those who participate in this market often download large lists of domain names and sort through them, either by hand, or with the aid of the search functionality built in to word processors. DropShark provides a single interface to help drop-catchers select the names they wish to submit to drop-catching services.
DropShark loads up to five days of upcoming dropping domain names and then provides advanced search functionality based on length, top-level domain, keyword, content, dictionary-word, numeric exclusion, dash exclusion, regular expression parsing, and more. DropShark can process a dictionary-word search across 100,000 domains in under 5 seconds. And compound-word searches in less than 10 seconds (tested on Athlon 1800+ with 256M of RAM). Unlike many other tools that require you to have your own source of data, a DropShark license includes access to the dropping-domain data, loaded automatically via an internal Web Service.
