It seems like all I’ve ever done is watch movies. My parents tell me that my first indoor film was Peter Pan when I was 4, but the first thing I remember seeing was Alien when I was 5. Twice. That pretty much fated me to be a movie geek, either that or a serial killer.
I tend to watch a lot of older movies or weird art flicks. But I still spend more than my share of time absorbing Hollywood’s latest product. If there’s one subject I know well, it’s Hong Kong cinema. Since the mid-1990s I’ve watched several hundred HK films; everything from the best known to the most forgettable dreck.
As a side project (which I estimate will take 10 years to complete), I am reviewing all of the re-released Shaw Brothers films in chronological order.
