Matthew Kramer had been designing and building innovative furniture for over eight years. After receiving scores of compliments and inquiries on the Floating Coffin and Record Cabinet in his home, he decided to begin selling his designs to friends. Realizing that very few DJs and record collectors owned well designed, high quality furniture to store their equipment and music collections, Matt began formulating how to bring his designs to a larger audience.
In late 2001 Matthew called on long time friend Chris McBride to help found DUAL and develop a strategy to market the company's products. Since then, DUAL has built hundreds of its signature DJ Consoles, record cabinets and coffee tables for DJs and nightclubs in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the United States.
Matthew first started building furniture as a hobby over eight years ago while working in the film industry in New York City. While there, he also started DJing and collecting records. Always interested in design and woodworking, Matthew studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York before moving to San Francisco in 2001 to bring these two passions together and start DUAL.
