- Joan Skalbeck is the creative force behind Primrose Gradations. She graduated St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.) in Fiber Arts. Being trained as a weaver and paper artist, Joan originally started dyeing her own yarns and fibers for her original works of art associated with her undergraduate degree. Her interest in dyeing fabrics and fibers culminated in her senior thesis, a recipe book of colored fibers and fabrics. In the process of this research, Joan developed an unusual knack for combining disassociated colors into pleasing combinations.
