It has been over 45 years since Roger Edwards and Philip White formed WYKO Industrial Services in the heart of the West Midlands.
From these humble beginnings, WYKO soon built on a growing reputation as an innovative force in the market providing customers with choices of leading products and engineering solutions.
WYKO soon began to expand on early success by opening the first bearing distribution branch. A key feature of this landmark event was the 24 hour bearing and power transmission service via 22 branches in the UK.
Even from these early days as a small specialist engineering company, WYKO believed that long-term investment in staff was key to building a successful business.
It was this visionary that allowed WYKO to view the market from a customer's position, which began to define how the company would grow.
Over the next 20 years, WYKO continued to invest through growth and acquisitions in all key areas of business ensuring a stronghold in the market.
By 2006, WYKO were established as a leading supplier of Industrial products and engineering solutions in the UK. This market holding was an attractive proposition for Dutch engineering company ERIKS who purchased WYKO in November 2006 to form Europe's undisputed market leader for industrial products and services.
To date, the ERIKS group supplies over 90,000 industrial customers (business-to-business), and purchases worldwide from over 1,000 qualified suppliers and manufacturers. From April 2008, WYKO became ERIKS UK. In the 18 months since the takeover, ERIKS have further reinforced the market position by adding more products, more reach and more know-how. The coming together of two market leaders has gone on to lead ERIKS to a bright future.
