- The Eastland Memorial Society was incepted in March 1998 and founded in September 1998 by Mary Bonevelle and Karl Sup. Mary is an avid Eastland historian with a strong will to build and further public awareness and recognition. Karl is the grandson of two Eastland passengers, Herman Krause and Elsa Neumann, who both endured the disaster, met years later and married in 1921. And so with a solid background of historical reverence, personal reflection and ancestral respect, the Society was born.
