In Dallas, Keith West was working as a network engineer for MCI. Having spent the previous year on an around the world trip, he was eager to find a better way to distribute travel information. That's when he saw the web. The future was clear.

Keith got on the phone to his brother Jason, who had just graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in finance. Jason agreed to come check out the idea. He brought his surfboard. If the plan didn't make sense, at least Dallas was half way to California, where he would go to take up the surfing lifestyle.
