Description
Mike Bender is a two time North Florida PGA Teacher of the Year, and is ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Instructors and Golf Digest as one of the top 50 Instructors in America. Mike was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa. He attended the University of Stansilaus in Turlock, California where he had a distinguished college career winning the NCAA Division III National Championship individually in 1979 & 1980. While at Stanislaus he was a three time All American and in 1979 he was named Athlete of the Year. After leaving college in 1980 Mike turned professional and began his playing career. In 1987 he set the course record at PGA West in Palm Springs during the PGA Tour Qualifying School, which helped earn him his Tour Card. After playing the PGA Tour for three years Mike turned his talents toward teaching. With his experience as a player and reputation of having a world class swing, which he developed while competing professionally, the transition was natural.
His instructional education was influenced while working on his swing with many noted instructors: Mac O' Grady, David Leadbetter and Mike Adams.
Since devoting his time to instructing, Mike has taught players from the PGA, LPGA, Senior PGA, and European Tours, as well as amateurs of all abilities.
