EHS Center in Molecular and Cellular Toxicology with Human Applications

Description

The primary mission of the Environmental Health Sciences Center in Molecular and Cellular Toxicology with Human Applications is to catalyze novel, high-quality and collaborative research on mechanisms of toxicant action and gene-environment interactions through the use of contemporary technologies in modern core facilities.

Through an integrated multidisciplinary approach, the EHS Center mobilizes contemporary molecular, cellular and genetic strategies to address important questions on the impact of urban environmental factors on human health. Research within the EHS Center emphasizes studies on the mechanism(s) by which oxidative stress, metabolism, and chemicals, such as organochlorines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, solvents, particulates, or metals, which constitute major urban and Southeast Michigan environmental concerns, effect disease initiation and/or progression.

The EHS Center maintains an active Community Outreach and Education Program to receive input from, and disseminate information to the community,
