- The Perro de Presa Canario, who's name changed officially in June 2001 to Dogo Canario for International recognition by the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), is a remarkable breed of dog that originated in the Canary Islands, and dates back to the sixteenth century. At one time this fantastic breed was almost lost to the world, however, thanks to the hard work and diligence of several dedicated breeders from the Canary Islands and Spain, this rare breed has been brought back to us for the world to enjoy.
