Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church is dedicated first and foremost to Jesus Christ the Lord of Glory and the Head of this church in Martha, and then to all the men and women and children that have been influenced by the power of His Gospel.
For the past 110+ years, this church, built along the banks of the Guyandotte River near the Iron Bridge has been a beacon of God's light and love to the community known as Martha. The main purpose of Elmwood Baptist Church has always been to see souls saved and then trained in the Christian faith so that they, in turn, lead others to a saving knowledge of Christ. (2 Timothy 2:1&2)
Elmwood Baptist Church has stood without apology for the faith once delivered to the saints. This church has held, and with God's help will always hold, to the fundamental, essential truths of Scripture. We believe in the inspiration of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments; the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save men from sin; the new birth through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit; and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God; and the return of our Savior and soon coming King. May God keep us faithful till He comes.
