- Allthough Ms. Shelley Batts did not know it at the time she received the takedown request from Wiley, over her posting with attribution on her blog of material from a journal, she was covered. The University of Michigan had already negotiated a separate license agreement with Wiley for each journal avaialable to every graduate student. Had Wiley continued their ill-advised campaign against Ms. Batts, I imagine the University of Michigan General Counsel (aka Roadrunner) would have proceeded to drop a rather large anvil on the head of one Wile E. Coyote. The thud would have been thunderous along with a dust cloud of mushroomic proportions.
