- ENERCALC Engineering Software was formed in 1983 by Michael Brooks, SE, to create simple fill-in-the-blanks engineering calculations using the Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet. Over the next 10 years the Structural Engineering Library grew into an extensive system providing calculation ability for common engineering design tasks. Between 1994 and 1997 the software was rewritten to be independent of Lotus, then in 1996/1997 a complete rewrite was completed for 32bit Windows operating systems.
