edit Description

A British company has released a new product for women, the Palmers “Slim Fit 20″ Caffeine Tights, available in black or skin colors in 3-pair packs. As the name might suggest, they’re not ordinary tights. They contain tiny caffeine microcapsules that get released when they come into contact with your body, and your skin absorbs the caffeine. I believe the idea is that caffeine helps burn fat, therefore, wearing these will help people get rid of cellulite and help shape legs.

If so, it’s complete crap, of course. You can’t spot-reduce fat, and metabolism is a whole-body thing. This whole “fix your fat by doing nothing” is the new snake-oil, and this looks like more of the same. Besides, if caffeine really helped promote weight loss that much, I’d be a whole lot thinner.

But the idea isn’t too bad — caffeine infused clothing. The only problem is that it’s worth maybe one or two wears before you absorb or lose all the caffeine microcapsules, then you just have really expensive clothing. I’d say the caffeinated shower gel or some good old fashioned energy drink will get you going better.
