Description
My primary lifetime goal is to spare animals from confinement and slaughter. I therefore continually analyze the modern animal protection movement's efforts, and develop strategies specifically intended to weaken animal agriculture. As part of this work, I originated the dismantlement approach to animal activism, which I introduce in my most recent book, Meat Market: Animals, Ethics, and Money (Brio Press, 2005).
I support myself primarily by writing. Almost all of my writing centers upon vegan or animal rights issues. Besides writing books, I occasionally write for magazines, and my writing has appeared, VegNews , In These Times , Vegetarian Times , and on Salon.com.
Since 1997, I have published the Vegan.com website. On Vegan.com, you can listen to my podcast "Erik's Diner," which I currently record three times a week. Vegan.com also offers a free PDF download of my first book: Vegan-The New Ethics of Eating (McBooks Press, 1998, 2001).
