Established in March 2008 by Westcliff parent Louise Ford, Essex Mums is an online forum aimed at making life easier for parents in the Essex area. Parents can exchange and discuss information on things to do, parent and toddler groups, classes for kids, or for parents to take with their kids and other events and experiences. There are also sections for discussing local schools, experiences with medical services, buying and selling, advertising local services, and for meeting up.
A number of meet-ups have been organised on the site and it has become a useful resource for parents looking to make friends and socialise with other people in the area. Essex Mums is also a place to chat about everyday events, as well as ask for advice on all aspects of parenting.
The website has been featured in the Southend Evening Echo, the new Southend Radio station and on BBC Essex.
