Esther Benedict Metal Sculptures
Description
Esther was born and raised in New York state. She is the youngest of eight children and the daughter of a preacher.
Following high school Esther had two paths to choose from - her love of horses or her love of art. Choosing her love of horses, she attended and graduated from the State University of NewYork at Delhi with a degree in horse management. She then went on to the Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School in Ardmore, Oklahoma and became a certified farrier. After reaching her highest potential as a farrier with her AFA Journeyman's certification and 16 years of shoeing behind her, she realized that the love of art was still calling her. Esther started sculpting using the knowlege of metals and welding that her many years as a farrier taught her. Over the next two years Esther switched over to being a full time sculptor.
Esther began sculpting horses as a natural outgrowth of her equestrian background. Next with her love of wildlife and the old west she started sculpting these subjects which allowed her to experiment with different textures, shapes and movement.
