The European Union Publications Office (Office for Official Publications of the European Communities - EUR-OP - 1969) Luxembourg, is one of the world's largest publishing houses. 2004 staff: 536. Operating budget: 77.81 million Euro, Managed budget: 34.2 million Euro. An interinstitutional body, EUR-OP offers printed publications, online databases, CD-ROMs and electronic documents on behalf of the various EC Directorates-General and European Union government agencies and EUROSTAT. Some of the main areas of publication are law, public tenders and statistics in all areas of European society.
The Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CISSTAT) and the State Committee of the Russian Federation on Statistics (Goskomstat) are official producers of statistical information on the social and economic situation in the CIS countries, and Russia, respectively. These agencies collect and analyse statistical information maintain databases, compile summary data and publish titles in paper or CD-ROM format, or by Email subscription, in Russian and in many cases also in English.
