DAYS 1 & 2

You are met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. A trek briefing and a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu are organised for you, leavingample time to prepare for your trek and to wander around the city.

DAYS 3 - 16

You fly to Lukla and follow the Dudh Kosi valley through beautiful pine and rhododendron forest with the jagged, icy peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru towering above the trail A steep climb brings you to Namche Bazaar (3446m), where you take your first stop for acclimatisation. While here you can make a side trip, away from the tourist trail, to Thami, the birth place of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first man to climb Mount Everest. You then head to themagnificent Thyangboche Monastery where mani walls and chortens adorned with prayer flags are a constant reminder of the local Buddhist culture. Thyangboche is surrounded by mighty mountain sentinels, and those with a keen eye may spot musk deer, thar and impeyan pheasant on the lower slopes. You continue, via Pangboche, a small village nestling in the shadow of the towering Ama Dablam (6850m), to Dingboche, for a further day of exploration and acclimatisation. You are now above the tree line and the scenery changes to stark glacial moraine, beautiful turquoise lakes and snow-shrouded Himalayan giants. There is a steep ascent to Lobuje (4930m), the highest night on the trek. The trail then follows the Khumbu glacier to the summit of Kala Patar (5554m) where you savour brilliant, close-up, views of Mount Everest with a 360 degree panorama of the world's highest mountains spread before you. Your return route takes you via Thyangboche back to Lukla for a traditional farewell with your Sherpa crew.

DAYS 17 & 18

After a return flight to Kathmandu, you have time to relax, shop or sample the delights of the many excellent city restaurants.

DAY 19

After breakfast we farewell you to continue your journey or we transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
