If you are standing around inside the Thermae, watching the never ending freak show, don’t be surprised to see the local constabulary strolling through. Rumour has it that the Bangkok Police run the Thermae and this may be the reason that the place has never been busted for opening after 2:00 AM (when most bars are supposed to close according to the law) and is seemingly exempt from any crackdowns vis-a-vis the closing time. I have never seen nor heard any stories about the police hassling punters in the Thermae notwithstanding the number of underage girls in there. Yep, as with so much of the commercial sex industry in Thailand, one will come across underage girls in there from time to time. When in the Thermae, I have chatted with quite a few 16 and 17 year olds. Like I mentioned earlier, leave these impressionable young girls alone - or do what I have done a couple of times, give them 100 baht and actually put them in a taxi and tell them to go home. Remember, even if you go with an 18 year old, you are only a small step away from going to bed with an underage girl, a step away from paedophilia.
