Dr. V.K. Raju established the Eye Foundation of America in 1979 to help ensure adequate eye care for the underprivileged of the world. In addition, the Eye Foundation of America has helped with more local causes by offering assistance to such organizations as the West Virginia Eye Bank and the Navajo Country here in the states.
reality. With the financial aid of supporters, these individuals have worked to bring state-of-the-art eye care to India's most needy. In 1993, they founded the Srikiran Eye Institute in Kakinada in South India to provide this care.
Since the Institute was founded, it has provided service to more than 400,000 people and its physicians have performed more than 50,000 surgical procedures. As word of the Institute's services spread, the Institute expanded its capacity to serve 400 outpatients and 70 inpatients per day.
