- Joanne Hilary Sweet was born in 1965 on an American military base in Japan. The family also lived in Germany, Maryland, and Kentucky before ending up in Killeen, Texas where Joanne graduated from high school in 1983. High school interests included drama and cosmetology. She received a degree in English from Texas State University in 1986. College interests included cycling and racquetball. Joanne worked as a hairdresser part time while attending college, which is how she met her husband. He was one of her customers. She accidentally cut his ear one time during a haircut, but he married her anyway - brave soul. After an eleven-year career in Mental Health and Vocational Rehabilitation, Joanne left work in 2002, which gave her the time and energy to begin The Fairy Chronicles saga.
