Family Counseling Center has a long and successful history of community mental healthcare and substance abuse service delivery to Southeast Missouri. Driven by a commitment to serving unmet behavioral healthcare needs of the area, the organization has collaborated with both public and private organizations to find effective solutions to “fill in gaps” that exist in the rural, southeastern part of the state. Family Counseling Center has provided treatment services since 1976 and currently serves 31 counties in Southeast Missouri.
Family Counseling Center was formed in 1976 as a small alcohol and drug outpatient facility with extremely limited resources and personnel. However, the organization did not let limited resources restrict service access to the underserved for long. Since 1976 the Board of Directors and staff of Family Counseling Center have been committed to meeting unmet service needs. This commitment has allowed the organization to serve over 6,000 clients annually in Southeast Missouri.
Family Counseling Center's mission since inception has been to provide clients with quality behavioral healthcare services in a confidential, caring and respectful manner – without regard for a person's ability to pay. Our goal is to ensure individualized assessment, quality treatment, and access to all levels of care.
