Father Domenic José Roscioli (you can call him Father Dom) grew up in the Columbus Park area of Wisconsin. After years as a parish priest in Milwaukee and Greendale, he returned home to recuperate from the chemotherapy he endured while fighting non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph system.
Disturbed by the deterioration of the old neighborhood, he decided to turn it around. He must have been sent into remission for a reason, he figured. As part of his new mission, he helped form KIN WORKS, INC. (Kenosha In Neighborhoods Works, Inc.) a grassroots community improvement group.
Over the years, KIN WORKS, INC. has cleaned up a contaminated junkyard, shut down a porn shop near Bain School, and closed Lacey Ladies Modeling School, a front for prostitution that was discovered to be part of a chain for organized crime. The group has also helped police rid the neighborhood of drug houses and has pressured absentee landlords to fix up their properties. Additionally they’ve helped obtain playground equipment, new sidewalks, a flagpole, flowers and trees.
