The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) is the apex industry association at national level of all hotels and restaurants in India : an equivalent of FICCI , CII or ASSOCHAM for the national hospitality industry. The four Regional Associations and many state-level Associations of hotels and restaurants are affiliated with FHRAI. In addition, there are about 3000 direct members, including hotels, restaurants and associate members (suppliers, and other hospitality industry-related establishments). The member hotels include all 5-star deluxe, 5-star, 4-star and 3-star properties, alongside hotels of other categories, and representing all national and international chains present in the country. Although the number of our restaurant members is limited, they include all the highest-rated restaurants in major cities in India , particularly those belonging to national and international chains. FHRAI was founded in 1955 and celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2005 - an appropriate occasion to inaugurate its Institute of Hospitality Management .
In addition to representing the hospitality industry in legislative and other governmental matters, FHRAI also does considerable work in research, publications and the professional development of managers in India 's hospitality sector. In line with this mandate, FHRAI decided to set up the Institute of Hospitality Management . Planning on the current site at Greater Noida began in 2003, and the Institute opened on 5th September 2005 , celebrated annualy as Teachers Day in India .
FHRAI has high brand equity at both national and international levels. It has been a member of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA) for more than 40 years, and is highly regarded by General Managers, CEOs and owners of hospitality establishments throughout India .
