Firebird Semiconductors Ltd. was incorporated in 1991 in Trail, BC to continue the compound semiconductor technology developed at Cominco Electronic Materials (CEMI). CEMI was sold to Johnson Matthey Electronics in 1989 and the Trail operation was shut down in 1990. Firebird has recently redirected it’s efforts from a company content on supplying one market (Indium Antimonide (InSb)), to a company directed at taking advantage of opportunities in its core competencies and strengths.
