Welcome to Fishyfish. Fishyfish is a gathering place and a resource for like minded folks bent on building their own stitch and glue boat. Most folks who visit here are interested in building or learning more about the Tolman Skiff, a boat with a dory heritage and a huge following. There are images of many Tolman Skiff projects, Tolman Skiff Adventures, Forums for sharing ideas and experiences and few other things thrown in. Many years ago I dreamed of building my own boat for fishing in the ocean. I looked at a variety of plans and books, and one day I stumbled upon Renn Tolman's book: A Skiff for All Seasons, the Tolman Alaskan Skiff. I could not put this book down and when Renn wrote several addendums to the book and introduced two new models, the Tolman Widebody and the Tolman Jumbo I determined that I would build one myself.
Fast forward several years, and I succeeded in building a beautiful Yellow Tolman Skiff Jumbo. It took me 3 1/2 years but it was a labor of love. And now I take my Tolman Skiff off the California coast and catch fish, crabs and shrimp.
Fishyfish was originally built to show a collection of Tolman Skiff photos I'd collected, and it soon became the gathering place for all who are interested in building or owning a Tolman Alaskan Skiff.
Fishyfish now has a forum for folks to share ideas and experiences building their Tolmans, as well as to shoot the breeze, make fishing reports etc.
Fishyfish is now branching out and posting articles on fishing, dungeness crabbing, and now shrimping for the elusive Coon Stripe Shrimp.
