- FleetSAFE© was started when I, as a fleet manager of a large emergency vehicle operation, wanted to have questions about my fleet of vehicles answered without going through stacks of paper, digging through filing cabinets, or looking up at a dry erase board to find out what vehicles needed to be serviced at any given time. I needed to find a fast, PRO ACTIVE way to have this information at a moments notice. I then sat down and took on the task of asking what information do I want, 1) How many miles does each vehicle accumulate every month, week or between any period of time? 2) When was the last time I fixed the alternator on a specific vehicle? 3) How many critical failures had the fleet had for any period of time and what failed? 4) What equipment is on a specific vehicle, i.e.... inverter, siren type, wheel chair lift etc.? I looked for maintenance programs and could find nothing that was addressing the issues I had with an EMERGENCY VEHICLE FLEET. I then decided to design a program to help me in my own maintenance needs, thus the concept of FleetSAFE © was born.
