Frakes Engineering, Inc. was formed in 1977 with the express intent of providing turnkey automation control system integration and engineering. The founders, Bill and Jim Frakes, foresaw the need for an independent firm specializing in industrial control systems. This vision allowed Frakes Engineering to be the first in the Indianapolis area to provide these services independent of any alliance or manufacturer.
Today, Frakes Engineering is well diversified across many industries, with specializations in water and wastewater, corrugated board, paper converting, power plant flue gas conditioning, the automotive supply chain, food and pharmaceuticals, specialty metals, and others.
Along with industry diversification, Frakes Engineering is committed to moving forward from PLC, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation systems to technologies such as PC-based control (where Frakes has an installed base of over 40,000 I/O points), proprietary and Ethernet TCP/IP protocols over LANs, WANs, and even wireless radio networks covering entire cities, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) solutions developed with industry-leading products and development tools that provide "real-time" information flow directly from the factory floor to the front office. From our UL panel shop to validation services for regulated industries (such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11), we can provide your total automation solution.
