- Mohamed Nasheed was arrested on August 12th 2005 for holding a peacful vigil. He was arrested in Dhoonidhoo Detention center for 81 days and transferred to house arrest on November 01, 2005. After 323 in house arrest he was released on September 21, 2006. But the government’s charges of ‘terrorism’ and ‘sedition’, for which he is currently on trial, have not yet formally been dropped.
