- Excel’s Function Wizard can greatly simplify the utilization of functions. You can use this to your advantage for every one of Excel’s functions, even the most complex statistical, financial, mathematical and engineering function. You can access the Function Wizard in one of two ways. The first way entails selecting a cell where the result is to appear and then clicking the Insert Function button and using the Insert Function dialog box to select a function. The other, quicker way is useful only if you know the name of your function. For this method, you should begin by selecting a cell for the result. Then, Type an equal sign preceded by the beginning of the function name. In the list of functions that appears, double-click the function you want and then select the Insert Function button. Both of these methods bring up the Function Arguments box, where you type the values you want in your calculation or click in the cells containing the values.
