Spring of 1993, "Baby Diego" was prematurely born with an extremely complicated, life-threatening illness. During the next three years that followed, Diego was transferred from hospital to hospital across Canada and the United States in an effort to provide his necessary medical treatment.

Diego was in need of life saving surgery within the United States, a treatment not standardly covered through B.C. Medical Services. Through overwhelming community support the "Baby Diego Campaign" of 1995 successfully raised over $100,000.00 for Diego's needed surgery. It was clearly demonstrated that a support system was needed. Northern B.C. Friends of Children Society officially emerged in 1997 as a result of the "Baby Diego Campaign". We are extremely pleased to say that things have turned out well for little Diego. Today, he is a thriving 11-year-old boy vastly in love with dinosaurs and life.

To assist families living in northern British Columbia who are unable to meet exceptional medical costs related to the needs of their child (up to 19 years of age).
